The aim of this project was to achieve compactness in the built volumes, in order to achieve passive thermal performance and give each tenant a sense of individuality in their own home.
To achieve this, it was decided to have only through-housing, with double orientation (also allowing better night-time over-ventilation in summer). Access is via external passageways served by two staircases. The apartments above the artist's studios are distributed by a walkway over the main entrance to the residence, which provides visual continuity to the building and will extend over the artist's courtyard.
METAL AND LIGHT SPIRIT
To reinforce the individuality of this housing complex, we favored a succession of varied volumes over a single, constant-height volume. In this sense, a succession of gables forms the urban façade of this project, with alternating gable and flat roofs bringing it to life.
The living spaces of the apartments are systematically positioned on the sunniest façades and extended by generous balconies. To enhance the sense of privacy and create the shade needed for summer comfort, the vertical sails and roofs have been designed with large overhangs.
All ground-floor units, accessible to people with reduced mobility, benefit from a private garden.
Two apartments benefit from an accessible roof terrace.
