The retail and social housing building has been laid out according to the project's general layout plan.
The primary aim of this urban redevelopment was to create a new square in the town center, close to the church square. The building was therefore set back, leaving sufficient space between its northern facade and Rue Nationale to accommodate parking. In order to enhance the value of the preserved 17ᵉ century house, the building was aligned on the eastern dividing line.
The shops open onto the square created for the project, forming the base of the building. Three volumes house the apartments above, separated by two stairwells, served from the square and the parking lots on the west side.
The use of wood as cladding on the first floor was a natural choice, given the tradition of wood harvesting and processing in the area, and as a nod to the wooden buildings of an older shopping plaza a little further down the road.
Residential life is organized on the facade opposite the square. Wide French windows give access to generous south-facing balconies. Cellars, built into the building and clad in the same wood as the first floor, not only serve a functional purpose, but also ensure privacy from one balcony to the next. The two stairwells divide the two levels of apartments into three volumes of deliberately sober design.
