Redevelopment and elevation of an office building on the quays of Bordeaux
Raising an office building above the Garonne River
Formerly the Port of Bordeaux's pilot center, this two-storey building, built in the 1960s, is located on the Bacalan quays, on the edge of the future Bassins à Flots district. The project to restructure and raise the building by three additional storeys will provide four office floors and an apartment on the top floor, with a terrace overlooking the Garonne.
Supported by a concrete column structure at the center of the building, the timber-framed and timber-floored elevation features fully glazed levels, each marked by a thick, white floor overhang.
Wooden posts punctuate the façade, recalling the architectural style of the adjoining housing development and the port's past.
