Creation of 150 BBC social housing units

This project is part of a vast restructuring operation in the Bassins à Flots area of Bordeaux, a former port wasteland.

Islet B9 is a triangular islet facing the submarine base.

The general layout of the block shows a strong desire to densify the periphery, with high points at 28 meters offering unobstructed views of the Bassins à Flots. The heart of the block is enclosed by a vast landscaped communal area. A pedestrian path crosses the block from north to south, creating a public route through the entire site.

Domofrance's project on block B9 comprises 150 housing units (rental and home-ownership) and a public facility at the head of the block.

The architectural language refers to the industrial history of this district: metal shed roofs, stained concrete facades, large vertically-patterned openings reminiscent of workshops.

An urban window in the corner building offers a view across the block to the Bassins à Flots.
