A LARGE LANDSCAPED AREA
The first ANRU project in Bordeaux, this 3-hectare site near the Saint Jean train station was occupied by blocks of social housing. Two lanes were cut through to create three housing blocks.
The design of this area favors the heart of the block as a "backyard garden" for the new homes, limiting large spaces in favor of varied, gardened flowerbeds.
The density of planting and the shape of the plant help to favour quiet places over livelier ones.
A sort of central "forecourt" serves as a hub for all traffic from one building to the next. It's a place of sociability and conviviality.
