Carbon-neutral platform

Prologis and the A26 agency sign a world first

100,000 m², 45 million parcels delivered per year, 150 KT of CO2 neutralized, gas-fired boiler abandoned: the latest logistics platform delivered to Prologis in Moissy-Cramayel by the A26 agency inaugurates the standards of tomorrow's responsible warehouse. This carbon-neutral certification for both construction and operation is a world first, simultaneously meeting the development challenges of the Casino Group's quick commerce business and the social responsibility of Samada/Monoprix and Prologis.

After the delivery of two buildings of 90,000 and 60,000 m² on a former PSA site, A26 designed with Prologis a new 100,000 m² warehouse for Samada/Monoprix which, in the words of Cécile Tricault, General Manager Southern Europe at Prologis, "concentrates all Prologis' innovations in energy savings and social commitment".

"Last autumn, Jean-Paul Mochet, Chairman of the Monoprix Group, declared: "With this new project, we will be able to combine growth, omnichannelity and environmental responsibility. This warehouse, which from the outset was designed to be carbon-neutral, from construction to operation, is now a world first.

Optimization of the construction site resulted in a 75% reduction in waste and the reuse of 20% recycled materials, notably from the demolition of old buildings. The design favored the use of bio-sourced materials, such as wood, or materials like low-carbon concrete to limit the impact of this construction phase.

To neutralize 150 KT of CO2 over the building's lifecycle, 36,000 m² of photovoltaic panels are installed, producing 1.4 GWh of electricity for on-site consumption.

In addition, a highly innovative geothermal system stores summer heat in the ground and releases it in winter, and vice versa. With the help of a heat pump, the site is completely gas-free, while ensuring optimum comfort for its employees.
Finally, the widespread use of LED lighting with variable intensity and presence detectors contributes to drastically reducing energy consumption. Dedicated to the storage and preparation of non-food and beverage orders for Monoprix stores and e-commerce customers alike, the site can handle 45 million parcels a year thanks to high-tech robotization developed by start-up Exotec. A building that puts people first, with particular attention paid to working conditions, thanks to bright, quiet, safe spaces and a landscaped environment that encourages biodiversity.
