Hôpital Necker - Enfants malades: micro-phasing with cords for an occupied hospital site

The need to increase the cardio-surgical capacity of the Parisian hospital dedicated to sick children involved reorganizing a large number of spaces at the heart of the Necker complex. A26 was able to convince the AP-HP of its absolute mastery of the phasing of a large-scale worksite in an occupied hospital environment... and not just because the site is located under the agency's windows!

The challenge for this AP-HP project was to free up space on two sites within the Necker hospital grounds: the Laennec and Hamburger buildings. The challenge was to free up new capacity for cardiac surgery in the Laennec building on R+3 and R+4 (a ten-bed cardiac intensive care unit and an operating theatre). This entailed relocating the pediatric medical activity to the Hamburger building, where some of these services were already located, as well as reorganizing the pneumology/dermatology, haemapheresis and stomatology units, which were spread over different levels of the two buildings.

This far-reaching reorganization calls for ultra-precise micro-phasing, and must be coordinated with developments that are partly managed directly by the hospital.

For Vincent Ramette, in charge of the project at A26,

we have to ensure that patient, logistics and personnel flows are maintained in the buildings without being impacted by the work flows or the work itself. Our approach of phasing plans from the APS stage onwards ensures that this will be the case throughout the phases and micro-phases. What's more, the fact that the levels concerned by the works are part of an existing building with sensitive services, means that interventions in the work zones must be particularly well defined, and that the technical and interventional impacts of the works on the lower and upper levels must be minimized as much as possible. This applies in particular to EU EV EF EC smoke extraction ducts for medical fluids, bathroom drains, etc., but also to modifications to the pneumatic communication system.

By guaranteeing the Necker hospital's project owner availability from the start of the design phase right through to final handover of the project and its occupancy by patients, A26 was able to convince with expert arguments that were further strengthened by the proximity of the agency located on rue de Vaugirard!
