OFFICE EXTENSION

OPEN-PLAN OFFICES

This project is the extension of a first building completed by the agency ten years ago, and houses the offices of Cartegie, a growing company dealing with digital data.

The first building was erected to preserve the possibility of future extension.

The new building is a similar volume set perpendicular to the first, with shared access via a metal walkway.

The project is based on a simple construction system, with mainly glazed and joinered facades and a flat roof.

The interior space is laid out on two open-space floors, with offices grouped in islands by work team, around a central staircase highlighted by an oval hopper.

Pivoting slats of perforated, aluminum-gray lacquered sheet steel provide protection from the sun, and form a unified façade that oscillates according to the inclination of the slats.
