ALL WOOD, JUST LAID ON THE FLOOR
The building, which houses the services of the Communauté des Communes Langonnaises, is located in the Mazères business park, a new industrial zone to the south of Langon, with highly-defined environmental objectives.
The landscape value of the site was an important element in the design: to blend into the landscape while at the same time imagining a visible building, simple in its design, with a strong architectural identity in keeping with its vocation as a public showcase for the Langon region.
The majestic presence of an oak tree in the middle of the plot guided the layout of the building, which is built in an L-shape around the tree:
- a single-storey building in two sequences articulated around this plant element, so that the landscape communicates with the building.
- construction on stilts to raise the project above the natural line of the steeply sloping terrain.
- an all-wood building, a material proposed in the PAE Mazères specifications, particularly suited to the project's HQE ambitions, and to the specificity of regional SMEs involved in the wood industry.
- a functional, scalable building, because today's commercial buildings need to be able to be transformed, expanded and adapted to new ways of working.
